Although we just noted the ornamental simplicity that defines this church, if you look closely at its walls, you will discover several fascinating details. For instance, several consecration crosses have been preserved, and numerous stonemasons' marks are clearly visible on the stone blocks, especially around the apse area: you can spot crosses, stars, semicircles, and more.
Stonemasons' marks were personal signatures carved into the stone by the craftsmen to identify their work so they could be paid for the exact number of stones they dressed. They could also serve as positioning marks to show the builder exactly how the stone should be placed within the structure.
